ENERGY-EFFICIENT HOMES

Home Team’s Alouette homes are highly energy-efficient without even upgrading the standard construction. Every home is built to stringent Canadian energy specifications. In fact, many of our homeowners have had their homes Energy Star rated by following the Energy Star guidelines for their site-work and other on-site finishing.

ENERGY SAVING AT ITS BEST

The first step to achieving energy-efficiency is to control the environment within the home. In order to do this, you need to have a tightly sealed envelope. Alouette takes the envelope of their homes very seriously. We install R-20 insulation in the walls with a vapor barrier and an additional air space over standard stick-built construction. Every seam of the vapor barrier is taped to seal it tight. High-performance thermal-insulated low-e windows round out the energy-controlling envelope of our homes. The home is so effectively sealed that we must also bring our attention to moisture retention and mold issues.

A heat-recovery ventilation unit (or air-to-air exchange unit) is standard in each Alouette home to control the humidity level in the house without sacrificing much heat loss. The secondary benefit of this unit is the continuous influx of fresh air into a home that is effectively closed up. So in addition to controlling your energy costs, you are also increasing the quality of air inside your home.
